Botanica Roses

My sister in law gave me a Botanica standard rose one year for my birthday and I have been in love ever since. Right now they are in full bloom and bringing a smile to my face every time I see them.

I missed pruning them this year so they're a little bit straggly looking but beautiful nonetheless.

Despite not being looked after as well as we'd like, they always reward us with full blooms of flowers. I have them lining our short path to the front door and get quite a few comments from visitors on how beautiful they are.

Of course, my favourite time of the flowering is the bud. It's so full of the promise of tomorrow and seeing my budding flowers always fills my heart with hope for a brighter future.

Pity the thing wouldn't stay still enough to get a clear shot. It doesn't take much breeze to get them moving.

It would seem you fall in either the "love roses" or the "hate roses" camp from what I've experienced. I definitely fall in the "love roses" camp. How can you not love them???

What about you? Are you in the "Love Roses" or "Hate Roses" camp? Do you have a favourite?

I'm definitely in the "Love Roses" camp. I have about 5 or 6 rose bushes in a garden bed in our front yard. I have no idea what kind they are, only that they are white, yellow, orange, pink, burgundy and an almost-white-with-pink-edges. Mmmmmm... I spend a lot of time with my nose in a rose.

I love roses, but I don't love all the diseases they're susceptible to. It's tricky looking after them and I'd prefer not to have any. But I was given a half dead one a few years ago, to see if I could "save"it, (yes, it's doing well), and hubby has bought two from the nursery. None of them are scented which is disappointing. For me the scent of a rose is better than the way it looks.

Roses, roses, roses! I love them, the sweet perfume, the glorious colours, the repeat blooming, their forgiving nature when neglected, the buds, full of promise, the unfurling, the perfume arising as a free gift to all who wander by or purposely seek them out, the full bloom through to dropping petals as a carpet below, the bush that holds all these sisters in various stages of life - A masterpice from the creator!

I love roses but they are so hard to grow! But the ones in your photos look lovely!

Kendall - hi, lovely to hear from you. I can just picture you with your nose in a rose. :) Me, I'm allergic to the scents but I still enjoy the looking.

River - I have to have low fragrance roses because of my hayfever so you probably wouldn't like mine so much. We don't seem to have much trouble with diseases out here. Perhaps because we're a long way from any other gardens for passing on disease?

The Vintage Rose - :)

HandiCrafts - I don't know why we find them so easy to grow here. Must be the right climate or something because I'm definitely no green thumb.
