Image by jacki-dee via FlickrI have discovered a certain dilemma when harvesting my garlic chives.
They look VERY similar to the weeds growing around them!!! :-o
Yes, I know. I need to weed more often.
Actually, I haven't had trouble with weeds in the garden bed until now.
It's all no-dig compost.
But they have arrived with avengence.
And I am pulling them each day.
But they did get a little ahead of me and I can't tell if it's the garlic chives spreading or weeds.
How funny would it be to flavour our food with finely chopped weeds???? ROFLOL.
I'll have to be VERY careful about my weeding I think.
And do a "sniff test" before adding greenery to the soup!!!! :-o
Note: The image above isn't my own garden. :-( T'wood be nice if it were!!! I was hoping Zemanta would give me an image of garlic chives (or even chives) but alas, it wasn't to be. :(

Very good point about Zemanta finding a picture of garlic chives. I've asked our engineers to take a look why you didn't get one and hopefully in our next release it will find it.
Jure Cuhalev, Zemanta
I don't do veggies, but often wonder about flowers vs weeds regarding stuff planted by the previous owner of my house.
Thanks for stopping in- I don't get this computer stuff very well- should I enable "non-user" to reply?
Delicious looking garden mine is a little sorry looking ...too.
and I have a weed or plant growing from beneath where my tomatoes died and my basil died ... it's neither but not quite a weed I recognise?
Lots of weeds are edible. in the past many migrants used to wander fields and roadsides gathering greens to add to their meals. Dock and dandelion for example are extremely nutritious, as is nettle.
baby~amore :- it could be a tomato growing from the seed of a fallen fruit? wait and see if it develops recognisable leaves before you rip it out.
Jure - you guys from Zemanta are amazing when it comes to following what people are saying about your product. Thanks and well done! :)
Tenakim - if it looks good, who cares? :) Have answered your question on your blog. Thanks for dropping by.
Baby Amore - it will be interesting to see what develops there. I LOVE little surprises in the garden. :)
River - That is true. Food for thought there. Although wouldn't want my ignorance to poison my family or anything. Thanks for your response to Baby Amore. :)
Even though we've tried to label as much as possible in our veg garden, there are still a few plants that we can't quite tell if they are our veg plants or weeds.
I guess all you can do in these cases is give a little extra water and wait for fruit or obvious signs.
