Image via WikipediaWith the rains we had recently, my poor neglected strawberry plants actually got WATERED. Strawberries are thirsty little suckers aren't they???
Anyway, they decided to actually GROW some STRAWBERRIES.
Aren't strawberries supposed to grow in the warmer weather???
Granted it hasn't been exactly COLD very much so far this year. But I was still a bit surprised. I think it might have been the largest crop of strawberries we've had so far this year!!!
8 whole strawberries. LOL. And yes, I ate them ALL myself.
I think we need about 10 times the number of plants.
I'll get there eventually.
I hope.
In the meantime, I did enjoy my surprise feast!!!! :)

OMG!
Our Strawberry has 5 little fruite slowly ripening & growing & several flowers.. all are PINK! Last year the plant was brand spanking new & had white fowers which bore ONE tiny little strawberry... which the damn possums got! Now we live down the coast we don't have possums coming into our yard as we don't have huge trees crowding us.
No offence to the trees!
WoW & I thought OUR plant was strange LOL
Hope you enjoyed every bite ;)
Pink flowers? How interesting. :) Hope you get lots of fruit. There is NOTHING like homegrown strawberries is there???
One year I grew strawberries and cherry tomatoes and watched through the back window as the alley RAT took most of them. I'd pick a few when he wasn't around, but if he was out there I just let him be. I haven't planted them since and haven't seen the rat since. I think he hangs around the chook shed in a neighbouring yard.
